Open OnDemand: First Time Setup

If you have never used the BOSE super-computing cluster before, Open OnDemand will not be accessible from the get-go. You will be required to read our Terms and Conditions before your profile can be established. The following instructions will guide you through how to do so:

Online Login

Go to https://ondemand.hpc.uwec.edu and log in using your UWEC credentials.

Setup Page

After initial login, you are prompted with the following screen. The page walks through the instructions of how to set up a user's account, same as this guide. Click the first blue button to open a shell session.

Shell Login

In the shell environment, BOSE will ask for a password. This password is, once again, your UWEC password. Nothing will appear as you type characters. This is a security measure in the shell environment. Rest assured, your password is typing. Press Enter after you have typed it. An Okta request will be sent which you must accept.

Terms and Conditions

Upon successful login, the shell will present to you BOSE's Terms and Conditions. Press Enter to display each section and read through the content carefully. At the end, the shell will ask if you read the Terms and Conditions. Press y and Enter to confirm.

Finishing Up

With the Terms and Conditions accepted, you can close the shell tab in your browser and return to the Setup Page. Click the second blue button and Open OnDemand will open. You know you have finished the process when you see the following dashboard.
